List of ethics and strategies that my company employ for various reasons explained below.
-----------Payment----------
Preferably by check or direct bank to bank transfer. I do not mind waiting. But get to me within 3 weeks of work.
I utilize Venmo, square and other services but they take 3%
-
For large projects a deposit of 50% of total is needed before I begin.
For clients on a budget one can pay me amounts no lower than 100$ a month for completed work until total is paid off. This will only be done for jobs over 1000$
------------Costs etc---------
Generally work is at around 60$/hr as of 2025. Price will go to 70/hr starting 2026.
For large projects, materials and labor are rounded to the nearest 50,00, 000 etc
So if a job comes to 1339.25 Ill round to 1350$, this rounding price usually goes up, never down. Sometimes prices are rounded to the nearest 100 for large projects. This rounding costs makes inputting and adding end of the month totals easier.
These amounts are in the quoted price for big jobs.
-
Reduced cost invasive brush removal.
Brian will be sent over for general brush removal. His rate is roughly 250-350$/day depending on how long he works.
-
Helpers, these helpers cost around 250$ a head per day.
-
For me (Jim) I usually charge 400-500$ per day of work .
-
For more experienced workers prices per day of work are around 350$ per head per day.
-
A day to me is roughly 7-8 hours.
-----------WholeSale-----------
For planting projects, I buy wholesale and I sell wholesale. I do not upcharge plants or other materials so I can maximize your budget.
------------Weeding-------------
Different methods are used in different scenarios.
Small Gardens
I do usually do full removal of any unwanted vegatation. Sometimes I will clip small or removal small things such as tiny weeds, dead stems and seed pods and hide them within the foliage. These will decay into mulch/soil and will replenish the soil. This also provides habitat for bennificial microbes and insects.
Large Gardens
For large gardens or landscape/meadows I will do the chop and drop method. Weeding unwanted plants and laying them on the ground to breakdown naturally.
General Invasive Removal
Chop and drop method:
Cutting with hedgetrimmer, pulling, or digging things out. This method works well, is efficient and keeps prices down.
Most things do no re-root readily unless they are in specific conditions.
Usually needs repeat cutting but with long term management natives will win out. Im finding chop and drop method reduces invasive biomass by 75%+ each time it is done.
Gutting
The entire removal and grubbing out of invasives or weedy areas. Sifting the soil for any invasive roots etc.
This method is expensive but gets the job done in one fell swoop. Its recommended to plant or seed directly after this is done.
------------------Scheduling----------
For large projects, work is usually done within 1.5 months or 5-6 weeks of deposit.
For maintenance etc is either by request or on my schedule. I usually let a client know when ill be by within 1 week of work. Sometimes if I'm in the area I may pop in for a check or quick maintenance.
